Gather your favourite people – and your faithful hound – for a coastal break in the picture-postcard village of Hartland. Sleeping six across three inviting bedrooms, this stylish cottage is a brilliant base for families or friends keen to explore North Devon’s wild shoreline with their canine companion padding happily beside them.

Arrive to private parking for two cars before stepping into this characterful two-storey hideaway. The country-inspired lounge is a welcoming spot to settle down after shoreline rambles, with a stylish electric fire adding warmth on cooler evenings. The farmhouse-style kitchen/diner makes mealtimes easy, whether you’re preparing a hearty breakfast before a long cliff-top trek or serving supper around the light-filled dining table. Upstairs, three thoughtfully styled bedrooms await: a generous king-size, a double and a twin. The main bedroom benefits from its own en-suite shower room, while a contemporary family bathroom with bath and separate shower caters for the rest of the group. Outside, a private patio with seating and a bubbling hot tub invites you to soak tired walking legs while your pup snoozes nearby after a day of sniffing new trails. A short wander from the farm brings you to a shared games room with a pool table and skittles for a little friendly competition before bedtime.

Start the day with a windswept walk at Hartland Point (3 miles), where dramatic cliffs, a historic lighthouse and vast sea views set tails wagging. The meeting point of the Bristol Channel and the Atlantic makes for breathtaking photographs and invigorating walkies. Clovelly (5.5 miles) tempts with cobbled lanes and whitewashed cottages tumbling down to a working harbour, while Welcombe Mouth (8 miles) rewards adventurous hounds and their humans with a secluded pebble beach framed by towering cliffs and a waterfall that spills onto the shore after rainfall. If you’re craving sand and surf, Widemouth Bay (17.5 miles) is loved by wave-chasers, with the far north and southern ends open for inquisitive noses year-round.

Half a historic 17th century fortified farmhouse on a working farm. Very well equipped and comfortably furnished. Ideally placed for the wild Hartland peninsular: a short walk to the coast path with cliffs and views to Lundy Island. The garden/patio with hot-tub is ideally sheltered when the wind is blowing. We explored as far as Instow and AppledoRead morere to the east, and Morwenstow and Bude to the south with gardens, churches and pubs. A detailed local road map such as found on www.streetmap.co.uk with the post code helps you get your bearings. We had a thoroughly enjoyable week with friends. Hide

We had the best time! The cottage has everything you would ever need, hot tub is amazing and the location is perfect. This is a working farm and pretty remote which we absolutely loved - the farm so great, it was lambing season when we visited so my 10 year old was on the element. We were lucky enough to see the lambs being born and it was absoluteRead morely amazing! Jo who works on the farm is so patient, helpful and just lovely - she was so kind with my daughter letting her help and support. This has been the best stay - my only negative was that we had to leave as we could have stayed there forever! Thank you so so much - we cant wait to return x Hide
