Nestled in the peaceful village of Bawdsey, just 2 miles from the coast with lots of pretty country and coastal walks nearby, is this delightful retreat for two plus their four-legged friends. Your furry pals can go mutts in the enclosed fenced garden while you relax on the patio in the sunshine, then they can go inside to snooze in front of the fire while you watch TV in the living room or the king-size bedroom.
This enchanting cottage has bags of charm and lots of original features, including the open fire in the elegant living room with space for Fido’s bed right next to it. There’s a lovely country-cottage-style kitchen with a stone floor and a breakfast bar for eating together. The family bathroom is also on the ground floor, with a bath for a relaxing soak. While your hounds dream of tomorrow’s adventures, get your sleep in the king-size bed in the gorgeous bedroom, with exposed beams and brickwork, and an ornamental fireplace. Hang out together outside, and as the dogs explore safely, you can sit in the fresh air with a glass of something chilled.
Bawdsey is on the River Deben estuary in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Sniff out walks on the nearby footpaths or wander down the winding main street to the quay, where there are stunning views and a tiny, sandy beach is revealed at low tide. Grab a coffee from the cafe, catch a foot ferry to the small fishing hamlet of Felixstowe Ferry (2.5 miles) and treat yourselves to dinner from the smokehouse. Visit the amazing medieval burial site at Sutton Hoo (7.5 miles) with your four-pawed friends in tow to explore the 245-acre site, considered one of the greatest archaeological discoveries in the country.
