Your pup will love dozing in front of the wood burner after going mutts all day on the nearby beach and you’ll love the period charm and character of this gorgeous cottage in the popular seaside town of Southwold. With cosy interiors, an enclosed garden, and shops and pubs close by, it makes the perfect getaway for a group or family, plus their fur baby, to enjoy the stunning Suffolk coast.
The cottage combines olde world charm with modern living, with an elegant living room with sofas to lounge on and a cosy wood burner to cuddle around. There’s a charming kitchen with another warming doggie favourite, a Rayburn, and gorgeous stone flooring. Enjoy mealtimes in the spacious dining room or go out of the patio doors and eat in the garden. Up the steep staircase, you’ll find three inviting bedrooms. The king-size, with plenty of space for Rover’s bed, has an en-suite shower room. Plus, there’s a double bedroom and a single, as well as a family bathroom. Your canine companion can sniff to his heart’s content in the walled courtyard while you enjoy a relaxing drink.
Southwold is a quintessentially English seaside resort with a bustling harbour, a working lighthouse, a fun pier, and a shingle beach where you and Fido can swim and paddle. Head to Walberswick (1.5 miles) on the foot ferry – pups travel for free – and wander back to Southwold across the footbridge. Grab the lead and head out for walkies along the coast, keeping an eye out for porpoises on the way, or sniff out the local footpaths. Denes Beach (0.5 miles) welcomes canine visitors all year and you might have the whole beach to yourselves at Dunwich (9 miles), where the city was famously swallowed by the sea centuries ago.
