If you’re part of a quirky family, you’ve sniffed out an amazing holiday bolthole. Tucked into a beautiful Welsh valley, this secluded property has room for five explorers and their canine companion. Treat everyone to a week away, with opportunities for adventures for everyone. Set tails wagging with ladder-accessible bedrooms which add to the storybook feel, great for rest after a full day of culture, sports and outdoor activities.

The generous garden is perfect for spotting wildlife and finding rare plants, so you know your dog will just have to sniff out everything. Meanwhile, you can set up the BBQ on summer evenings and serve delicious food as twilight breaks. If it’s cooler, head inside and cuddle up in front of the wood burner in a cosy living room. You can break out the games or get everyone to choose their favourite film for movie night. The interior decoration is simple and timeless with plenty of wood, and the exterior mixes brick and mock-Tudor design for a unique feel. Head off to comfortable beds and dream of the next day’s expeditions. There’s one lovely double room, one single and one twin room.

From your gorgeous cottage base there’s plenty to discover. We’ve got to commend Llangollen for their commitment to including dogs in as many events as possible. There’s the seasonal festivals, walks around Horseshoe Falls followed by nibbles in a cafe that welcomes canines, and then there’s room for everyone in canoes to tour the aqueducts. Some instructors even bring their own dogs! There are lots of amazing walks to do from a variety of starting locations, and there are mountain bike trails for daredevils who see a challenge, not a valley. You can finish off with restaurants in Pontfadog and Glyn Ceiriog, perfect for people and puppies who need refuelling after a long day.

This little cottage is in a beautiful location but is let down by feeling so neglected. The appliances are decades old and slow to heat which made cooking very difficult, and the television is intermittent at best. Tea and coffee was not supplied. However, the views are stunning and the cottage is ideally situated to explore the beautiful localRead more area. The beds are also very comfortable, and we enjoyed having the log burner. There were plenty of books for both adults and children, and a number of board games provided. Hide

Kitchen and bathroom were clean and bed and settees comfortable. Well situated to explore north Wales but keep an eye out for hairpin bends and steep drops. Local people are very friendly.

This is a lovely house. Very quiet. Clean and comfortable. Good access to Llangollen, Chirk, Oswestry (all about 20 mins drive) and other places. One bedroom is downstairs - the others are in the loft conversation accessed via a pull down ladder which may not be ideal for everyone.

The cottage is quaint and perfectly situated to explore the valley and local countryside including Chirk castle, the viaducts and wild river after days of rain. With the fire lit it is a sung place to wile away an evening.

I had a wonderful week at Bron y Fedw. It is a 1930's cottage so don't expect a modern ultra fancy appartment, but I like a bit of character. And it has still some Art Deco features. The cottage is situated in a rural location and is very quiet. Great if you want to get away from the hustle and bustle and use it as a base to go walking in the CeiriRead moreog valley or visit Chirk Castle, the Llangollen Railway or take a trip with a narrow boat across Pontcysyllte aquaduct. The cottage has an outdoor space at the front and the back where you can enjoy the sun, if it shines. I really enjoyed my stay and would not hesitate to book it again. Hide
