Enjoy one of the best views in the Lake District from this fabulous property, situated between the villages of Elterwater and Grasmere. The former cow byre is now a modern, open-plan cottage with everything you’ll need for a peaceful couple’s getaway – and not forgetting two furry friends.

A first-floor apartment accessed via a slope and some stone steps, this little gem of a holiday home fits everything – bar the sleek shower room – into one well-designed, L-shaped space. A stone floor (with underfloor heating), exposed beams and cute, sloping ceilings set the country-style atmosphere. A kitchen runs along one side, with integrated appliances and plenty of space to prepare tasty meals, and there’s a folding dining table and chairs for two. Facing the floor-to-ceiling windows are a pair of reclining chairs with footstools – so you and your pups can get comfortable and enjoy the incredible view over Grasmere Water, Heron Pike and the surrounding fells without needing to venture outdoors. Around the corner you’ll find the king-size bedroom area, with plenty of storage – and the TV can be swivelled to face you if you feel like watching a film in bed. The decked terrace is partially enclosed and has a dining table and chairs for warm days when you want to take your food outside or simply sit and enjoy the view.

For fell walkers and mountaineers the area is the perfect base for the nearby Helvellyn range, Fairfield and Dollywagon Pike, but there are plenty of gentler strolls from your front door, too, and all have stunning views. Why not take your costume and go for a peaceful wild swim in Grasmere? Or stay dry and drive 5.5 miles to Waterhead, where you can join a picturesque steamer cruise of Lake Windermere.

Comfortable, well equipped studio with beautiful views to relax into. Very peaceful location, 1 mile down to Grasmere village. Lots of birds and wildlife in the near vicinity. Minor issue was the router password not being correct in the info folder, but the telephone help people soon fixed that.

Great location and wonderful views....... would benefit from a bit of a refresh and putting up some local pictures to make it a little less impersonal. Also some sun loungers on the decking would be a great idea. Overall great property for 2 people, just needs a bit of an update.

Beautiful location with special views. Nice apartment everything was clean and tidy. There are spiders/insects (not inside while we were there) around but it's the countryside.

PERFECT Location. EXCELLENT value for money. VERY well thought out, GREAT use of space. Perfect for use of people who want to be away from hussle and bustle of the busy Lake District towns but close enough to visit easily.

The position of this property is outstanding and this is what makes us recommend this property. The property needs upgrading. New head board (stained) and easy chairs. Mattress and pillow protectors should be fitted and pillows replaced. The freezer compartment in fridge was dirty and badly needed defrosting. Spent 4 nights in july as a surprise 'special' treat for my wife's 75th birthday. 800.00 or call it 90 hours @ almost 9.00 an hour ! for 4 nights. This is a small fortune to me ! but the lady is only 75 once, eh ? I know that Lake district accommodation is expensive but when (if ever) does it become affordable to more people ? This accommodation Read moreis undoubtledly about the location and view. Superb ! ( more anon) it needs to be to compensate for single room living sleeping/cooking/TV watching (when it works) accommodation plus a bathroom. If the accommodation had a smidgeon of luxury, should we not expect such with descriptions that include " Contemporary barn conversion with elegant finishes " and " luxurious leather reclining chairs " etc etc ? We were sadly disappointed. We endured creaky reclining chairs, dripping taps a few feet from the bed and if you go to the bathroom in the night, do it in the dark. The very noisy bathroom fan runs for close to 15 mins and this is maybe 10ft from your bed. I could go on but suffice it to say the property needs a makeover to bring it up to standard. Yes ! the location, view and front gardens are really lovely and this I have no doubt is what ' sells it However, be aware very close behind you is Red Bank road. There is traffic noise. Dale End Loggia is approx 1 mile outside Grasmere up Red Bank. This road is maybe not for the faint hearted older driver ? Very narrow in places and bendy. You may well need your reversing skills and beware those stone walls hiding behind the vegetation that reduces the width of said road by a few feet. We were entertained (shameful) by some of the traffic jams outside as cars/vans/lorries ! reversed and jockyed to allow passing traffic from the other direction. I saw enough just arriving up that road, I never moved the car until we left. Luckily there is an abundance of excellent walking from the cottage. Ok, I have long overstayed my welcome here but hopefully this review will open a few eyes. Hide

Lovely cosy cottage. Beautiful gardens and views. Very peaceful. Its a good location as you can nip over the back to the Langdales without going through Ambleside. Not too far to get to Keswick or Ullswater either. It really was a stunning little place.

The view from this studio is difficult to beat - no matter what the weather, it is outstanding. There is a beautifully landscaped garden with a little stream running through it which I don't think comes across fully in the photos. It is well equipped with every thing you need, (take hand soap, it's the only thing missing) it's not luxury, but it Read moreis very clean, well designed in terms of layout and a great base for walking.
