Close to the village of Chapel Stile, this bright and stylish cottage is an ideal base for a couple’s getaway or family holiday exploring the Lake District, and welcomes a furry friend, too.

Clever design creates a practical and comfortable layout in this bijou property, set over two storeys. On the ground floor, the open-plan lounge is flooded with light from large windows and glazed patio doors, with a high, pitched ceiling giving a sense of space. To one side the comfortable seating is gathered around a Smart TV, while a compact dining table and chairs is tucked opposite, beside the staircase. The kitchen has everything you’ll need to create tasty meals, with space to pop down Fido’s food and water bowls, too. The cosy double bedroom and chic family bathroom are also on this floor, while if you head upstairs you’ll find the twin bedroom tucked under the eaves (some restricted head height), with exposed beams and a large skylight window. For enjoying the fresh air and sunshine, there’s a small gravelled area to the front of the cottage with a bench seat and bistro table and chairs.

If you want to leave the car at home, there are walks of all kinds straight from your front door, and a dog-friendly pub less than half a mile away in the village for a refreshing pint afterwards. For a change, drive to Waterhead, 5.5 miles, where you can hop on board an elegant cruiser or hire a self-drive motorboat and explore Lake Windermere from the water – an unforgettable day out. For a little bit of retail therapy, Ambleside is only 5 miles, while Grasmere is 9 miles by car or 2.5 miles on foot – and don’t forget to try the speciality gingerbread.

Lovely comfortable cottage with fabulous views. Very well placed for lots of fairly low level and high level walks. We were there when the weather was nice but cold and the house was lovely and warm. It would be a bit of a squash for 4 people but plenty of room for 2 - and a dog! The nominated car park is up a very steep hill and it would be quite Read morerisky in icy weather. Room to park on the road at the front which suited us better. Hide

For the price the cottage was lovely but external is not enclosed for dog safety if choose to sit out and enjoy time in garden area. Inside it is small and cosy. There is not much cupboard space in kitchen as nearly all taken up with kitchen crockery and utensils so do not take a large shop. The bedroom is small and the bedframe does not allow mucRead moreh room on each side, which results in leg bruising from wooden frame-would suggest more of a padded frame. Overall, points are minor as the views are great and property price cannot be faulted for being situated in the Lake District. Would we return - quite simply yes Hide

Another great stay at Lingmoor Lookout. Cottage was really clean again. Perfect place to stay in the Lakes! Great walks from the door. Blea tarn is a good one for a wet or sunny day. Also the Elterwater circle walk is a favourite of ours. Head to the Bluebird caf in Coniston for the best sausage butty and cake!

Loved the views from the cottage, really can't get enough. Thoroughly enjoyed exploring the Langdales. Walked Pike O'Blisco on a clear day and climbed up to Stickle tarn in the mist. Finally visited Blea tarn and had a swim there too. Recommend paddle board hire at Coniston and a visit to Brantwood House - amazing views, thank you!

Lovel, cosy cottage, exceptionally clean with everything you need. Best cottage we have stayed in in the Lakes. Only a stones throw away from an amble to the village store and Wainwrights (which we frequented for meals and drinks on several occasions!) Visited Ambleside, Coniston and quaint old Cockermouth, all enjoyable. Could recommend the YewdalRead moree Inn at Coniston for homemade pizzas and very friendly staff. Slates in Elterwater is also lovely for lunches and ice cream! Hide
