This is quaint cottage living at its finest. And one dog can come too. And it’s right by the seaside. And it’s got gorgeous sea views. And it’s in central Whitby, accessed by an atmospheric alleyway. It’s just over 300 metres from the beach, so just a quick trot and then you can both go mutts in and out of the sea. Relax and recharge your batteries with your other half, another couple or your family at this wonderful holiday property offering stylish accommodation with rustic pops and all the mod cons.

Spread over three storeys, the accommodation starts with the open-plan kitchen/lounge/diner that’s bright and airy. The exposed wooden ceiling and beams are whitewashed to make it even lighter and it’s all well-equipped and just right for a comfortable stay. The view from the generous lounge window is like a postcard, featuring the estuary and harbour. Up to the first floor which houses the master double bedroom which feels like an oasis of calm, just right for a great night’s sleep. Up again, where the twin bedroom nestles in the eaves and has zip-and-link beds, that can be put together as a double on request. Sloping ceilings, beams and a bench seat add to its character and charm.

The location of this property is great for taking advantage of all Whitby has to offer. Take a night off self-catering with a meal out or fish and chips. The harbour is almost on your doorstep and there are eateries and shops within 0.5 miles. Tate Hill Beach is within 0.5 miles, just across the river and allows dogs year-round, whilst other beaches may have seasonal restrictions. Climb the famous 199 Steps up to the ruined abbey of Whitby for stunning views and a sense of times past.

Not impressed with the whale in the window, and think it would be a better experience for clients if the dining table was relocated in front of the window instead. Shower often a bit difficult to set up, as ii keeps going hot or cold. Tap mixer is not the best option. Otherwise, a lovely cottage.

We had a brilliant half term stay at Alice Cottage. The cottage was lovely - clean, cosy and the view across the harbour was beautiful. It was a great location for exploring Whitby and beyond.

A beautiful, well thought out cottage. The views from the lounge & bedroom windows made it for us, as did all the considered interior styling, welcome packs , games and local information. Would highly recommend.

We have been staying at Alice Cottage for the 4th time and it feels like a second home for us. It has the perfect location for beach, cliffs, family and town and it is lovely to start the day with sea views. The kids love the attic room and watching the rowing boats in the evening. The cottage is well-equipped, there is no need to bring extra stufRead moref such as kitchen gadgets. The scratch cards are great, there is always some parking space up at the West Cliff. Hide

This is our third visit to Alice Cottage in Whitby. We love the location, the views and the cosiness of the old cottage. It feels like a home from home to us. We were overjoyed with the 'new' super comfortable bed in the main bedroom. We can't wait to return.

Lovely autumn stay at Alice Cottage. Really comfortable beds, great heating & hot water, fab views out over the harbour, cosy, tasteful decor and lots of kitchen equipment in a small space, comfy sofa and chairs.
