The whole pack is sure to have a ball at this traditional stone-built cottage that is set within picturesque surroundings in the sleepy hamlet of Harrop Fold in the Forest of Bowland Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. An idyllic rural retreat for a small family or couple and a canine companion, it offers a comfortable stay within easy reach of scenic walking routes and quaint market towns.

Step along the gravel path and across the threshold into the welcoming kitchen with dining area, well-equipped and with feature beams, offering a glimpse of the cottage’s characterful charm. The living room features a Victorian fireplace with an electric fire and yet more period features and furniture, creating a warm and inviting atmosphere. Upstairs, there is a spacious master bedroom with double bed and a chaise longue, which invites you to curl up with a book in front of the window. The second bedroom houses a bunk bed, ideal for children. There is also a traditional family bathroom on this floor. Step outside into the enclosed garden, perfect for Fido and the children to play in – which offers serene views of the surrounding countryside.

There’s a plethora of walking routes for you and your canine companion to enjoy within easy reach of the property; the Forest of Bowland offers hundreds of miles of walkers’ paradise with uplands and fell tops to conquer and explore. Those taking their bow-wows need to be mindful of livestock, so be sure to check guidelines when planning your adventures. Afternoon tea and a spot of shopping can be enjoyed close by at Clitheroe (13 miles) or Downham (14 miles) or for a family and dog-friendly day out you can sniff out adventures at Bowland Wild Boar Park (13 miles) – where dogs are welcome if kept on a lead.

This is a lovely cottage in a remote area however there are many modifications needed to update the bathroom. There was a significant amount of mould on the ceiling and in the reveals in the lounge and dining room.

Everything about the cottage was as described in the information which helped us to decide to book it in the first place. Beautiful setting down winding lane away from it all. About 4/5 miles from Clitheroe which had all you need from a market town, and the owner was very polite and helpful, and had a very good local knowledge. Excellent week.
