A delightful wooded valley and lovely creek views await at this idyllic holiday hideaway. Ideal for nature-lovers and their canine companion, it’s close to foodie-favourite Padstow plus a choice of sandy beaches and country trails.
Located on a very quiet lane, this modern cottage takes maximum advantage of its wildlife-rich setting, with a reverse-level layout that features two tranquil ground-floor bedrooms. One has a double bed, the other has full-size twin beds; both have storage space for your belongings, and share use of the contemporary shower room close by. Everyone can catch up on the first floor, where the open-plan lounge/kitchen/diner has French doors onto a Juliet balcony. All the chef’s essentials are in the kitchen, along with home-from-home must-haves such as a dishwasher and washer/dryer. When you want contact with the outside world, there’s Smart TV, DVD and a Bluetooth speaker. To reconnect with nature, simply stroll across the lane where, beside the creek, is a terraced area with decking and outdoor furniture… Fido will wait patiently while you fire up the BBQ!
The wooded valley of Little Petherick Creek is a wildlife haven, with up to 130 species of birds to spot at certain times of year. Passing through the village and perfect for walkies, the Saints’ Way is a 27-mile trail from Padstow to Fowey that’s strewn with ancient footbridges, Celtic crosses and historic churches. One of Cornwall’s best-known holiday hot spots, Padstow (2 miles) has a working harbour, shops, inns and eateries to satisfy every appetite and is the starting point for another pet-friendly stroll: the Camel Trail follows a disused railway line to Wadebridge. If Fido would prefer to play on the sand there are fabulous beaches to sniff out, including Hawkers Cove and adjoining Harbour Cove, where there are wide expanses of light golden sand at low tide.
