At a glance

  • Tastefully decorated, traditional fisherman’s cottage in the Old Town area of Padstow
  • Bright interiors with plenty of natural light in the deceptively spacious nautically themed rooms
  • Cosy and well located for exploring Padstow and North Cornwall’s famous beaches

Property code: OC-P00505

This attractive Cornish cottage is studded at the heart of Padstow, sleeping four humans and two waggy-tailed family members in comfort. Positioned on the edge of the ‘old town’, you’ll have a wealth of eateries within easy reach, many of which welcome furry visitors with open arms and a tasty treat! This is a brilliant base for sniffing out exciting adventures along the dramatic coastline, and on your return you can curl up by the gas flame-effect fire with a warming tipple.

Scamper inside and soak up the comfort of this marvellous property, appreciating the wooden details that feature throughout. Adding a blended sense of old-world charm and contemporary convenience, the kitchen/diner has everything you need to rustle up your favourite meals. Sink into the sofas in the lounge and let sleeping dogs lie by your feet, and at bedtime climb the steep stairs to find two delightful bedrooms with an en-suite each. There may not be a dedicated outside space, but you’ll be so close to Padstow’s main attractions you’ll soon sniff out the best places to visit.

Take in the spectacular views and enchanting harbour dotted with boats as you make your way past the quirky shops and interesting art galleries. You could even take a boat trip to spot the resident wildlife, which includes dolphins, seals and basking sharks at various times of the year. Harbour Cove and Tregirls beach 2 miles away welcome dogs, and the sand dunes of Harlyn Bay 3 miles away are rumored to be very popular for rabbit-chasing. For more active-minded guests, the Camel trail is an exciting trail that stretches to Bodmin, having once served as a railway line.

The Cottage is lovely and tastefully furnished. Not for people with mobility issues. The location is ideal, quite close to the harbour.

Beautiful cottage central location, fully equipped well maintained cleanliness excellent, cannot fault it, just wish we had booked this for 2 weeks instead of having a terrible experience at Miss Mopsy's from which the booking was relinquished. Susan Munday.

This was the third time we've stayed at this cottage, mainly because of the location and the 2 ensuite bedrooms which suit our party. However, if will be the last, for many reasons. We have noticed the number of glasses, mugs and even teaspoons decreasing over the years, clearly never replaced when broken or lost, despite guests paying 25 per viRead moresit for breakages. Once again we had to Google how to get the oven to work once turned on, some simple instructions for setting it are needed. No recycling provisions. There were fresh slug trails in the lounge every morning, scratching noises from inside the walls in the twin bedroom, 2 noisy, smoking painters were present 2 of our 6 days painting the walls right outside the windows, including upstairs by the bedrooms we were trying to get changed in and then the doorsteps meaning we had to jump to get out of the house (we were not made aware that this would be happening). There was a power cut late one night, I'm not sure if this was general but all other houses in the Street looked to still have power, and the electrics in the cottage look old and potentially dangerous. The maintenance phone number on the sheet of paper was no longer a recognised number. Finally, for the second year in a row the cleaners turned up 15 minutes before departure time and sat in their vehicle watching us pack up, making us feel rushed. Very much not appreciated. There have always been compromises with this property which have not or can not be fixed (very poor lighting in lounge, not enough sockets in bedroom, small bed in main bedroom, impractical sink/shelf positioning in main ensuite, very small downstairs toilet, uneven slate floor in kitchen, very steep stairs, no garden) but it has been good value for Padstow. Location is obviously still excellent, but given other places provide a parking place which immediately saves 60, it is no longer good enough quality for the price paid. Hide

A very clean and excellently positioned property with easy access to shops, restaurants, takeaways and harbour. No parking available at cottage but a weekly pass can be bought for carparks at top of hill. Generally well equipped house - a few things could be upgraded but we were comfortable, warm and enjoyed our visit.
