We booked the house and cottage together as a three generation family. The property is ideal, lots of space and lovely decor, fully equipped with everything you need. A comfortable space whatever the weather. The large private driveway was a great feature of the property. The location is excellent for local amenities, with a pub and shop convenRead moreiently nearby. There are plenty of walking opportunities without needing to use a car. The garden is a lovely space for both dogs and people to enjoy, and the adjoining door provided both privacy and easy access when needed. Would recommend the property. Hide

We have been coming to the Lake District for 35 years and have been experimenting with a lot of different Airbnbs and cottages and found Oakdene House to be the best of them all. We finally feel that weve found the right place. The cottage is situated in a perfect central location to all of our favourite towns and walks, has a lovely cafe and shop Read moreopposite the road, possibly the best pub in the country a short walk away. The beds are comfortable, there is ample space inside while still being cosy, the house was immaculately clean and generally pretty perfect. We will continue to stay in Oakdene house and will recommend to friends and family. Hide

Everything was perfect other than one of the parties noticed when stripping the bed ahead of vacating (which we always do when staying in cottages to make it easier for the cleaners) that the quilt was badly stained as was the mattress (there was no mattress protector on). This appeared to be in only one of the bedrooms (the one directly opposite Read morethe house bathroom) as all the others were fine. Just something that should be checked each time someone has stayed. Hide

Brilliant location for walks, shop, pub, Ambleside, Grasmere, and very peaceful at the same time. Sixth or seventh time in the house, and our favourite of the 7 local properties weve stayed in.

The cottage was spotless and had everything we needed, including ample private parking, a rarity in Chapel Stile. It was in a perfect location for the shop, cafe, pub & lovely walks for our little old dog by the river. We used the ensuite bedroom & the bed was so comfy it was hard to get up. We were also blessed with hot sunny weather, so we spent Read moreevenings in the garden with a few drinks. A perfect week, thank you. We had a spectacular thunderstorm the first night, which knocked out the internet. We were contacted about this almost immediately by Sarah from Cottage Holidays, before we'd even noticed it had gone ourselves, & she sent a lovely guy around within half an hour to see if it could be repaired but it was a village-wide problem, which was fixed the following day.
