Get away from it all in this paw-friendly Lakeland retreat for two, surrounded by the dramatic landscape of the Eskdale Valley. The apartment enjoys a remote setting on Birker Moor, and you and your canine chum can walk for miles directly from the property, including to the idyllic beauty spot of Stanley Ghyll Waterfall (1 mile) and along the River Esk (2 miles). For those seeking a challenge, the mighty Scafell Pike is also within easy reach (13 miles).
The loft apartment is set within a converted barn and boasts a number of characterful original features, such as exposed beams and rustic wooden floorboards. The accommodation has an open, studio-style layout and is reached via a staircase from the ground floor. After a day of exploring, return to your cosy abode to prepare a delicious meal in the cute kitchen area, which you can share at the wooden table for two. Chill out on the inviting corner sofa – whilst Fido curls up on the rug at your feet – to read a book or plan your holiday itinerary. From the double bed in the far corner of the room, you can watch TV and warm your toes in front of the wood burner-effect electric fire. An en-suite shower room completes the accommodation. Outside, relax in the shared garden, where you’ll find grassy areas for the hound to stretch their legs and picnic benches for al fresco dining. Private parking is available for one car.
The quaint village of Boot is 5.5 miles away and has two traditional inns, along with a village shop selling local produce. The village is also near Dalegarth station, where you and the pup can hop aboard one of the steam trains of the Ravenglass and Eskdale Railway for a scenic jaunt through the countryside to the coast. At Ravenglass, you’ll find a sandy beach that welcomes dogs all year, where your canine travel buddy can burn off some energy before the train ride home.
