Escape to this cosy cottage in the charming village of West Witton, surrounded by the picturesque landscape of the Yorkshire Dales National Park. The enchanting retreat sleeps two guests and one four-pawed chum, and is ideal for a romantic getaway or as a base for a solo traveller. The nearby countryside is a paradise for walkers and for shopping and eating out, the vibrant market towns of Hawes (13 miles) and Leyburn (4 miles) are within easy reach.

The bijou holiday home has been cleverly configured to include everything needed for a relaxing break, and features sumptuous soft furnishings and homely touches throughout. Step through the front door and into the welcoming living space, where you can unwind on the plump sofa to watch a film on the Smart TV and Rover can stretch out in front of the wood burner-effect electric fire. Nestled at the rear of the room is a carefully designed, compact kitchen area for rustling up hearty meals for two, which you can enjoy on the sofa using the handy fold-out tables. There’s also a little breakfast bar for perching with a morning coffee. Heading upstairs, you’ll find a stylish double bedroom, set under a characterful sloping ceiling with a skylight, and an en-suite bathroom. Outside, discover a small, enclosed patio area where the canine can stretch their legs, and you can sit with a glass of wine on a summer’s evening. The property has on-street parking, subject to availability.

West Witton is a quintessential English village with chocolate-box stone cottages and two welcoming village inns. West Witton is a great base for walkers and four-pawed explorers, with numerous tracks and trails branching away from the village, including to the summit of Penhill where the views are exceptional. Wensleydale is often referred to as ‘the valley of waterfalls’ and you and the pup can enjoy excursions from the cottage to visit the stunning beauty spots at Aysgarth Falls, Aysgill Force, and Cotter Force (all within 15 miles). For history enthusiasts, a visit to the captivating ruins of Jervaulx Abbey, 8.5 miles away, is a must for the itinerary.

Probably the smallest, quirkiest cottage in the Yorkshire Dales. Was beautifully presented, spotlessly clean and in a great location between two local pubs and perfect for trips into the Dales. Highly recommend.

Fantastic little cottage, clean and tidy. It has everything you need and is in a peaceful location. Some great walks with amazing views. Great food in walking distance or a short drive for more choices.

For being a very small cottage it was well equipped, comfy and clean. The little village has a short right next door for milk etc. All the villagers are very accommodating and polite and the next door neighbour gave us some great info on surrounding area. The fox pub which is about 200m down the road does fantastic food at a very good price which iRead mores also dog friendly. So after a long days trekking with your pooch this was a really great way to end the day next to an open fire and good company. Hide
