Take Rover for a stroll beside the loch and enjoy a drink and home-made cake at the cafe in Kilmelford or lunch at the pub. Pets on leads are welcome too, at the National Trust of Scotland’s magnificent Arduaine Gardens (3 miles). This spectacular collection of exotic and colourful plants and trees from around the world has glorious views down the loch to the Sound of Jura. Take the ferry to the Isle of Mull from bustling Oban (15 miles) and explore the remarkable ancient sites at Kilmartin (13 miles).
