Impeccable levels of luxury await in this pet-friendly holiday home in the County Durham village of High Pittington, a real top dog choice for outdoor-loving families and friends in the northeast. Wide open spaces are decked out with contemporary furniture and up-to-date mod-cons across all three floors of this airy retreat. Both a lounge and a snug invite guests to put feet (and paws) up, one with a Smart TV and one with an flame-effect electric fire that Rover will love. Another highlight is the conservatory with floor-to-ceiling windows, an airy spot to sit with a glass of something special. When nighttime beckons, five superb bedrooms are laid out over the two upper floors, including four king-size rooms, one with an en-suite shower room, and a bedroom with four single beds - ideal for children’s sleepovers. Outside, keep a watchful eye on your pets in the garden from the decked terrace, a suntrap spot with outdoor furniture. In the garden, unwind in your peaceful surroundings, reading your favourite book beside the pond.

Set tails wagging and explore the coast and countryside that surround this property. You can walk along narrow country roads to reach the village, pop into the local pub, or take a longer walk into nearby Durham (4.5 miles) to walk along the River Wear, where you can wander around Crook Hall Gardens or admire the historic castle. For further outdoor adventures, drive to the edge of the North Pennines AONB (19 miles) or towards the coast (9 miles).

We had a brilliant family stay at Orchard House. The house was clean, well equipped and the staff were super warm, welcoming and helpful. There is loads of space, the setting is beautiful and convenient for various highlights of the area. The TV and tablet allowed access to TV and music apps and the essentials of milk/juices/coffee pods/bread/fruitRead more/flowers/soaps were all much appreciated. This will be our new go to rental for the area. Loved it! Hide
