Experience the stay of a lifetime in this canine-compatible character cottage, complete with incredible sea views and the added luxury of an indoor sauna. Feel like top dog as you wake up here each morning, taking coffee on the balcony as you watch the fishing boats sail in and out whilst planning your day of epic dog walks along the coast. Made for a romantic retreat with man’s best friend invited too, the couple accommodates two guests and two dogs. You’ll love taking a stroll to Tynemouth’s Long Sands Beach (1.5 miles) each morning, grabbing breakfast and a snack for Fido before throwing a tennis ball or two on the pristine stretch of golden sand.

Presented with a unique layout, this apartment inhabits the third and fourth floors of a building, accessed via a private, enclosed courtyard with outdoor furniture for sitting out and letting your pup sniff around. On the third floor, you’ll find a lounge/dining space with a cushy sofa and Smart TV, just next door to the king-size bedroom and the bathroom with an adjacent sauna. Although there are picture windows for sea views here, to get the very best view you should take the spiral staircase up to the secondary lounge, next door to the kitchen. With a wood burner and a floor-to-ceiling window, this is a superb spot to curl up, get cosy and watch the water.

Leave no stick unfetched along the magnificent coastline, taking a daily walk up to neighbouring beaches and spotting dolphins in the water as you go. A route along the water’s edge to Blyth (10 miles) is a rewarding walk that can be completed in a few hours. With your pets on their lead, you can also explore the fabulous city centre of Newcastle-upon-Tyne (8.5 miles), dropping in for refreshments at several pet-friendly pubs throughout the day.

We loved our stay in The Observatory which must be the most unusual place we have rented! The apartment is comfortable and the views are amazing - we loved watching the ferries and other boats coming in and out of the harbour. Well located for bars / restaurants along the quayside, but with no disturbance from them. Near two Metro Stations and the Read moreShields Ferry so we only used the car twice. Henry was a helpful host. Thank you! Hide
