This sweet cottage is set on a private lane on the outskirts of Maybole, surrounded by the rolling Ayrshire countryside. Sleeping two guests and one furry chum, it’s the perfect base for a romantic getaway. You’ll be just 5 miles from the coast, where you’ll find a fantastic array of woof-friendly beaches. At the end of the day, relax in the enclosed garden, sipping a sundowner or toasting marshmallows around the fire pit.
Leave your muddy boots in the porch, and head into the inviting lounge. This bright space has a home-away-from-home feel, with contemporary furniture and creature comforts. Relax here, with Fido snoozing at your feet, to watch a film on the Smart TV. On a summer’s day, open the French doors to allow your hairy hound to potter in and out of the garden. The country cottage-style kitchen/diner is the ideal spot for rustling up delicious dinners for two, to enjoy together at the cute table under the window. At night, retire to the pretty double bedroom, which also has direct access to the garden. A stylish shower room completes the accommodation. Outside, you and the woofer can unwind in the enclosed garden, listening to the sounds of the birds as you sip a morning coffee or tuck into a chewy bone.
Head to Dunure (7 miles) for a stroll along the shingle beach, overlooked by the romantic ruins of Dunure Castle, followed by a bite to eat in the traditional inn on the harbour. Alternatively, get away from it all on a wild and windy walk along the rugged shores of Croy Beach (5 miles), which enjoys dramatic views of Culzean Castle. An 8-mile journey north brings you to the popular seaside resort of Ayr, with its sandy beach, pretty esplanade, and a great selection of independent, woof-welcoming eateries.
