This cosy shepherd’s hut with wonderful, far-reaching country views offers a delightful, romantic hideaway for two, plus one canine companion. The beautifully designed retreat is set in the peaceful grounds of a Herefordshire smallholding and is just 2 miles from the pretty village of Hoarwithy. There you can find a shop and traditional pub serving food, with a warm welcome for dogs. Discover more independent shops and excellent eateries in nearby Hereford and Ross-on-Wye (both 7.5 miles), while the lovely River Wye is just 2 miles distant.
Surrounded by countryside, the hut is one of two on an elevated site and is thoughtfully furnished, in keeping with its charming traditional character. The interior features a neat kitchen, a table for two and pretty double bed. Your pet will enjoy curling up before the wood burner-effect electric fire. A shower room completes the layout of this holiday home. Outside is an enclosed garden and patio with a picnic bench and fire pit: an ideal spot for star gazing on cloudless nights.
Visit Hoarwithy’s remarkable Grade I-listed Italianate church, which features mosaic floors, marble pillars and a lapis lazuli altar. This is a great area for super walks, and from the village you and your four-legged friend can take the lovely, 4.5-mile circular walk that crosses the Wye. Stroll through the narrow streets of picturesque Ross-on-Wye to see the impressive 16th-century Market House, a focal point of this historic market town. Head for the city of Hereford, also set on the Wye, to explore the magnificent cathedral and Black and White Museum in a splendid half-timbered house.
