Retreat to this stylish family holiday home just half a mile from the centre of the charming village of Hawkeshead, Lake District. This exquisitely designed home-from-home offers a family of four and their canine companion a charming base to explore scenic walks, chocolate-box villages and cosy watering holes.

This ultra-modern property beautifully fuses the literary heritage of Beatrix Potter and William Wordsworth with thoughtfully designed social spaces, thanks to the open-plan kitchen and large living room. After an adventurous dog walk, hang up coats and dog leads in the hallway and head into the cobalt blue, well-appointed kitchen. Be blown away by the quality appliances available and the space to cook, bake and create while the pooch stares on longingly. Dish up the dog's dinner before serving a feast for the humans around the dining table. Retire to the lounge to listen to the Sonos system beats, watch a film on the flat screen or bury yourself in a book within the nook. At bedtime, head to one of two sumptuous bedrooms: a king room and one incredible master suite with stunning views, expansive beams, vaulted ceilings and a stylish en-suite bathroom.

Pull on your walking boots, pop the lead on your happy hound and step straight out of the cottage into the village of Hawkshead. Unleash your energy exploring picturesque routes, enjoy waterside expeditions or head to Lake Windermere for a leisurely boat excursion (10 miles). For those nights where cooking is off the menu, a short stroll down the road will bring you some welcoming dog-friendly pubs serving hearty homemade grub. Other attractions include Beatrix Potter Gallery (less than half a mile), Grizedale Forest (2.5 miles) and Coniston Water (5 miles). Although this property has no dedicated garden, the surrounding areas will give you plenty of places to set tails wagging!

First time staying at Hawkshead, numerous times in the Lakes. We loved it, lovely walks, great meals at Poppi Red and the Queens Arms fabulous deli and tea rooms a very pretty village. Cottage is beautifully furnished. Could do with some instructions ie we never got the Sonos to connect at all (we have Sonos at home) and Sky would have been good. Lovely centrally located cottage in the heart of Hawkshead. Beautifully decorated, spotless and great facilities. We ate out locally so no need to drive to get groceries, a good meal, excellent coffee etc. A shame that a couple of the local pubs were being refurbished so not open during our stay, but we had good food at the Red Lion and PoppiRed. Beautiful property in a beautiful location. All of the property was very clean and all of the furniture and decor was lovely. The pub along the road serves very tasty food and the village is just beautiful.
