A fusion of old and new creates enormous charm in this welcoming cottage, which is ideal for families or friends, plus two four-pawed companions. It’s set in popular Bowness-on-Windermere, within easy reach of shops, pubs, great places to eat, scenic walks, boat trips and lake cruises.

Climb the four steps to the front door and hang your pups’ leads in the vestibule before venturing into the inviting living space. This open-plan room features a lounge area with a beautiful ornamental fireplace and intriguing old beams, contrasting with the modern convenience of a Smart TV. This is a lovely spot in which to recharge, playing games, chatting, listening to music, reading or simply watching a much-loved movie. Tucked behind one of the comfortable armchairs is the dining table, and beyond this a spacious kitchen, with integrated appliances and all the kit you’ll need to create special holiday meals. The three bedrooms, two doubles (both with TVs) and a compact bunk-bed-room, are on the first floor. One of the doubles boasts an en-suite shower room, and there’s also a very swish, separate shower room for the other rooms to share.

Bustling Bowness-on-Windermere is a tourist favourite, and has a plethora of shops, pubs, cafes and restaurants in which to while away your days. As for getting out and about, this is the perfect spot: not only are you surrounded by gorgeous walking trails, you can go sailing or try some water sports on the lake, including kayaking, paddle boarding and wake surfing. Don’t miss the opportunity to take a boat trip (with your hounds) and see the scenery from the lake itself, and perhaps get yet another perspective from the carriage of a steam train - dogs travel free! For a day trip, the charming village of Grasmere is 9.5 miles.

Very cosy in the heart of the village Great for going out on the town at night. Easily accessible to Ambleside for beautiful, Rydal caves to explore and waterfall. 3 nights was not enough. Definitely be back for more adventures.

Cottage is in a fabulous location right in the centre of Bowness. We parked the car on Friday and didn't move it till we left on Monday. Very cosy, beds comfortable, reasonably well equipped (we had to buy a tin opener), shame it doesn't have a real fire, that would be so nice but all in all, a very nice property and we would return.
