Feel Fido’s excitement when he arrives at this gorgeous retreat close to the Peak District. Sleeping just two human guests, the one-bedroom, dog-friendly cottage, which is 0.5 miles from the national park and 1 mile from Ashbourne, is nothing short of puppy dog heaven. Set within leafy grounds, it has a private sun deck for outdoor relaxation and fabulous walks through the Derbyshire Dales right on its doorstep.
Follow Fido as he pads across the deck and into into colourful new home. Inside, discover barn-style accommodation, with an open-plan lounge/kitchen/diner, complete with vaulted ceiling and exposed brick and woodwork. Let your chum make himself comfortable in this light-filled space, while you fill up his water bowl, dish up his dinner and make something delicious for yourselves in the kitchen. Afterwards, settle on the sofas by the bank of windows to catch up on your favourite boxset on the Smart TV, while he snores gently. Leave him dozing in the main living space while you wander through to the king-size bedroom, which has an en-suite shower room, for the night. There is a pull-out sofa bed in here too which may suit couples with children. Enjoy breakfast out on the deck on sunny mornings, while Fido waits patiently for the day of dog-friendly activities to begin.
Venture 55 miles from the cottage to Carsington Water. Here you can watch Fido’s tail wag as he trots along the 8-mile footpath right around the lake. Head into the Peak District to explore picturesque Dovedale, 3 miles away. Drive 4.5 miles to scenic Ilam Park, then follow a 1.5-mile route to the famous stepping stones across the River Dove. The Weaver Hills, considered to be the southern-most end of the Pennines, are 8 miles away and will also be a favourite excursion for Fido.
