Retreat to this stylish townhouse in the famous market town of Hay-on-Wye with your group of six guests and two four-legged friends. This beautifully finished holiday home offers visitors the chance to truly unwind among rustic charm and with every amenity needed to enjoy a fuss-free stay in Wales.

The property, which has been recently renovated, is brimming with character. Brush down muddy paws at the door and make your way to the spacious kitchen/diner, where the country-style design beckons guests to start rustling up a feast for humans and hounds. Feast together at the adjoining dining table, celebrating your exceptional stay away or take your plates outside to the private enclosed garden where you'll be wowed by the established flower beds and pretty lawn. Back inside, settle the family down with some TV in the lounge, where cosy original features help to put your mind to rest. Upstairs, the three beautifully furnished rooms are a welcome sight for tired guests, two of which boast en-suites for added privacy. Head outdoors with your morning coffee and pups bounding beside you as you ease into an energetic day of shopping and countryside trails.

Conveniently located in the hub of the action, you're in a great position to explore the market town and surrounding rolling hillsides. Take advantage of the town's weekly market day, which has been running for over 700 years and has a diverse range of products, including artisan crafts and rows upon rows of delicious ingredients to add to your dishes. While here, remember to pop into one of the labyrinth bookshops to find everything from a vintage paperback to an up-to-date thriller. For morning walkies, sniff out the banks of the River Wye, or let tufty tails take you along the trail from the property up to the Hay Bluff.

Our stay in The Town House was delightful. The kitchen is very well equipped and we were provided with milk, OJ, butter and bread, along with some other treats that were very much appreciated! The lounge is very comfortable and the log fire was a focal point on the cooler evenings along with the record player (did not expect that). The outside areaRead more is a real sun trap and the barbecue was put to good use too. The bedrooms are spacious and the house was warm and welcoming. A great place to stay. Hide

21 Castle Street, Hay on Wye is a little gem, little on the outside and spacious on the inside. Excellent quality throughout with everything we needed. Downstairs is perfect for socialising and the three bathrooms are usual for three bedrooms but very much liked. Great to be so close to the lovely independent shops. The cinema is well worth a visitRead more, as is the castle guided tour. So many book shops to browse and enjoy. Very dog friendly and super walks to the river and along to the meadow. Hide
