Designed with well-heeled holidaymakers in mind, this deluxe townhouse has indulgent features including a cinema room, snug and two en-suite bedrooms, while outdoors there’s a spa garden with a Swedish sauna and Japanese-style hot tub.

Prepare to be impressed the moment you step inside this drool-inducing holiday idyll. An entrance hall with traditional parquet flooring and wood-panelled walls leads to a cosy lounge with an open fire, Smart TV, hardwood floors and a fine combination of antique and contemporary furniture. Next door, the kitchen/diner is a bright, contemporary space with a handmade solid wood kitchen, an island with breakfast bar stools and comfy banquette seating. Extras include a boiling water tap, Smart TV, Sonos speaker and record player – plus plenty of space for a duo of doggie companions to stretch out as you cook, dine and unwind. The kitchen leads to a fabulous Scandi-style cinema room complete with Smart TV, surround sound and Nintendo Switch; snuggle up on the plush sofa while the deep window seat offers views of the garden. A downstairs shower room is next door. Upstairs, two bedrooms are off the spacious landing. The master has a king-size bed and lots of storage, its en-suite is a calm, peaceful space with wood-panelled walls and a walk-in shower. The rear bedroom is a cosy twin with wrap-around wood panelling, a comfortable day bed offering views of Helmsley Castle, and a contemporary en-suite bathroom. The wow factor continues at the rear of the house, where large sliding doors from the kitchen lead onto a beautiful, south-facing garden full of designer touches. The large decking area by the house has seating, and there’s a patio with a dining table and chairs. Follow the Belgium clay-paved path and you’ll find a spa area complete with a Swedish outdoor sauna and an additional bath house with a Japanese-style Ofuro hot tub for the ultimate in relaxation.

Helmsley is one of North Yorkshire’s prettiest towns, with charming sandstone buildings and a wealth of restaurants, gastropubs and independent stores to suit every taste. Stretch the dogs’ legs with a walk from the ancient castle here to Rievaulx Abbey (2.5 miles), or visit Castle Howard (13 miles), one of the area’s most stunning stately homes, with acres of grounds and gardens to explore, and a great adventure playground for the youngsters. A similar distance away, the North York Moors Railway starts in Pickering – take a train to Whitby and back for a car-free day at the coast.

Just returned from a weeks stay with the kids and dog at this beautiful house in Helmsley. It was perfect in every way. Loved the decor and design and felt at home from the get go!
