This characterful cottage is nestled in one of the oldest parts of the historic seaside village of Appledore. Set in an olde-worlde narrow street lined with fishermen's cottages and running parallel to the estuary, you are less than 500 yards from the picturesque quay in one direction and the lifeboat station in the other. Appledore has plenty of pubs, restaurants, galleries and independent shops to explore during your stay, as well as easy access to some great days out for the family, including your canine companions.
This is a lovely setting all year round where you can enjoy cosy winter evenings indoors or a secluded outdoor space to sit in summer, maybe sipping a glass of wine or two. There is a well-equipped kitchen if you choose to cook for yourself, or The Beaver Inn offers hearty cuisine and friendly hospitality less than 200 yards away - and the Royal George just 20 yards further on, is also renowned for its seafood fare.
Northam Burrows Country Park (2 miles) is close enough to reach on foot and a pleasure to walk with your dog. Westward Ho!, with its long sandy beach, Atlantic surf and seafront featuring lively amusements is only 3 miles away. The beach itself has restrictions for dogs during the summer months, but that still leaves a large area where they are allowed at the eastern end. A passenger ferry across the estuary to Instow runs from Appledore quay during the summer months; dogs are welcome aboard and Instow beach is dog-friendly, all year round, with a range of pubs, cafes and restaurants.
