Enjoy walks from the doorstep of this super-stylish cottage. Located on the edge of the North York Moors, it’s the ideal holiday base for a party of six and a pair of four-pawed pals. Osmotherley is a vibrant North York Moors village, its streets lined with trees, grass and pretty stone cottages. Among them is this character-filled abode.
Step inside and the reception room is simply charming, with upcycled furniture and bursts of colour that add a contemporary flourish to complement its original features. The dogs will claim their space in front of the wood burner whatever the weather, and they’ll be hot on your heels when you wander through to the adjacent dining room. Move onwards and you'll find a kitchen that’s both style-conscious and sure to inspire every culinary effort – with white marble worktops and an informal dining area, it’s sleek, neat and a clever use of space. Once you’ve said goodnight to the dogs, take the stairs from the dining room to the first floor, where the king-size bedroom has its own en-suite shower room. There’s a separate shower room on this floor too, while on the top floor two further bedrooms beckon – the first is a double and the second is a twin room. A separate enclosed garden is 20 metres from the cottage.
Friendly local pubs and stores are within 100 metres of your doorstep when you want a gentle stroll, while for longer walks the Cleveland Way passes through the village en route from the beautiful market town of Helmsley (15 miles) to the coast at Saltburn-by-the-Sea and along the North Yorkshire coastline to Filey (both a 25-mile drive). Closer to home, Cod Beck Reservoir (1 mile), is surrounded by coniferous woodland and moorland; the circular walk around it is 1.5 miles long.
