This homely farmhouse has an elevated location in the sweet village of Penhow, offering cosy pet-friendly accommodation for large groups of up to eight. It’s got lovely views over the surrounding meadows – which you can drool over from the hot tub – and 6 miles north of the coast. The games room will be a hit with youngsters and there’s an enclosed paddock where energetic dogs and children can let off steam.
Once you’ve left any your shoes and coats in the entrance porch, step into the lovely lounge featuring large windows that show off the views, plus plenty of comfy sofa space. A Smart TV will keep you entertained in the evenings, while the wood burner ensures you and your pets stay toasty. The open-plan kitchen/diner is a wonderful space for relaxing as a group, with its tasteful artefacts dotted around and antique furniture. Perch at the breakfast bar for snacks and coffees, or sit down at the wooden dining table for leisurely evening meals. Out the front, you’ll have a furnished gravelled section for kicking back in the fresh air while kids play on the trampoline. The games room is in a separate lodge made of lovely wood. There’s also an external dog kennel for hounds to put their heads down for the night.
You’ll have a pub and shop less than 1 mile away in Penhow. If you love walking, this is a great spot for your holiday – take your dog along waymarked footpaths leading right from your front door, or join the ancient Offa’s Dyke Path 8.5 miles away in Chepstow. Bedwin Beach is just 6 miles from the cottage, and at Caldicot (7 miles) you can visit the castle accompanied by your pet. If you’re seeking lengthy hikes through unspoilt countryside, head to the Brecon Beacons National Park (13.5 miles).
