Spectacular vistas across the Eden Valley are just part of the appeal of this gorgeous farmhouse, which has a charming interior that’s both comfortable and beautiful. Close to the North Pennines, the Yorkshire Dales and the Lake District National Park, it’s an ideal destination for large families and groups of friends, and welcomes up to three four-pawed besties.
Follow the winding track up to the Victorian farmhouse and, once inside, you’ll be impressed by its harmonious blend of period features and contemporary comforts. With a range cooker, Belfast sink and retro-style fridge/freezer, the kitchen contains everything you’ll need for easy holiday cooking. One step down from the kitchen, the beamed dining room is a delightful spot in which to linger after supper. You’ll want to stretch out in the welcoming lounge, with a Smart TV and, for the winter months, a wood burner. Also on the ground floor are a utility room with a shower and laundry facilities, and a useful separate WC. Head up to the first floor and the four bedrooms, two king-size, a double and a twin, all prettily furnished and with lovely views. They share a family bathroom with a raised, free-standing bath and a separate shower. To get the most from the property’s incredible views, head out to the tiered garden (dogs must be kept on a lead), where you can bask in the sunshine or watch the stars come out.
From this postcard-pretty, fellside setting you can head out into the great outdoors and hike for hours among gorgeous scenery. In Brough, 2.5 miles, you’ll find the ruins of a Norman castle, pubs, a shop and (in the summer) an ice-cream parlour, while Kirkby Stephen, 7 miles, is a quaint market town with historic buildings, lovely shops and a variety of places to eat.
