Get away from it all with your favourite humans and hounds in this exceptional farmhouse near Bassenthwaite Lake. The property sleeps nine guests and two woofers and is the perfect retreat for family gatherings and special occasions. Keen walkers and four-pawed explorers will be in their element, with a wonderful selection of walks in the area, from lakeside strolls to exhilarating fell climbs (Skiddaw, Catbells, and Blencathra are all within 12 miles). The bustling town of Keswick is 5.5 miles away.

The gorgeous farmhouse has been lovingly renovated to carefully combine fabulous original features with contemporary design. Enter into the farmhouse-style kitchen, which has everything you need to cater for a large group, as well as a breakfast area, and ample space for the dog beds. Adjacent to the kitchen is a large dining room for enjoying mealtimes together in the glow of the wood burner. The cosy lounge is full of character, with exposed beams and stonework. Relax here after a long walk, watching the Smart TV with your hairy chums curled up on the rug. A games room with a pool table rounds off the ground floor. The four bedrooms are upstairs, the majority of which boast stunning lake views. Two of the bedrooms have en-suite facilities, and there’s also a family bathroom. Completing this floor is a cute snug with low ceilings and a TV. Outside, Rover and Fido will have plenty of space to burn off steam, with a lawned area to the front of the property, as well as an enclosed area to the side. Here, you’ll find outdoor furniture for al fresco entertaining in truly breathtaking surroundings.

The property is just 2 miles from Bassenthwaite Lake, where you and the hounds can stroll along the western shore to admire the spectacular reflections from the surrounding fells and the abundance of rare wildlife. Overlooking the lake is the doggy haven of Whinlatter Forest Park, with its plethora of tracks and trails for the pups to sniff and explore, as well as Go Ape for adrenaline-seekers amongst the group. The pretty market town of Keswick is 5.5 miles away and offers a fine selection of paw-friendly pubs, restaurants, and cafes.

Very lovely clean house with lots of space and things to keep you busy. The boys in the group particularly loved the pool room!

This is a beautiful and extremely well equipped property which I woul happily recommend. We were on a family break with 9 of us from 3 generations. The children especially liked the upstairs den where they could watch TV while they were waiting for everyone to get ready to go out for the day. The owner, Deborah, was extremely friendly and helpful.

My family had a wonderful weekend in the farmhouse. We are a family of 8 plus dog - there was so much room for us all to move around. The house is clean, has a lovely warmth and a sense of welcoming when youre inside .. We had just a few niggles in the beginning, the owners were attentive and responded quickly. Super central location for walks .. jRead moreust 15 mins into Keswick.. We will definitely return as a family. In fact no-one wanted to leave! Hide

Definitely recommend High Side farm house. Decent location - you will need to drive to get to most of the walks / parks nearby. Accommodation is very comfortable and will sleep 9 comfortably. Good facilities for self catering.

We had the farmhouse for a week, plus for 3 nights one of the B&Bs. Both were excellent. The house, off the road from Keswick, is perfect for a large family getaway. The owner & family were very helpful & friendly e.g. advising on the best kayak/paddle-boarding launch-sites. We needed a bigger pot for our mega-family meals, and it arrived the next Read moremorning. The farm was very clean compared to others we have stayed on. We had a great stay at Deborah's cottage. She was very accommodating and helpful throughout our stay and quite responsive to any queries we had. The cottage is centrally located in terms of travel to main attractions . The house has a view of lakes and mountain The cottage is beautifully decorated and has every thing you need away from home. The coRead morettage has a mix of old and new construction which gives it a unique setup. I would recommend Deborah's cottage for a nice,warm and beautiful stay. Hide
