This gorgeous two-storey cottage beside a small working farm in the village of Brandsby is ideal for families and friends and up to two four-legged friends looking for a peaceful holiday in North Yorkshire. The surrounding countryside offers ample walking and cycling opportunities. Yearsley Wood (2.5 miles) has a circular woodland walk where your pups can leave no stick unfetched, and you can enjoy a walk in the woods.

This beautiful property has a wonderful, homely cottage feel, and you will feel relaxed the moment you step inside. In the hall you can hang up your coats and dog leads, take off your walking boots and then head to the contemporary kitchen/diner with a dining table in the centre. The kitchen is generously equipped so you can rustle up hearty meals and picnics to take on your adventures. The cosy lounge with sofas set around a wood burner-effect electric fire invites you to sit back and relax while watching your favourite film on the TV. Your hounds can enjoy a snooze on the rug or run around in the enclosed garden. Upstairs is a shower room and three bedrooms: a double, a twin, and a single room, all providing lovely views of the gardens and countryside. Outside is a mature cottage garden with a patio and garden furniture where you can enjoy a morning brew or take advantage of the dark skies for stargazing.

Walkers will love the area, with the Sutton Bank National Park Centre (11.5 miles) a must-visit – there are routes to run, walk and bike and your hounds can go mutts in the countryside. Discover the area's history at dog-friendly Castle Howard (10 miles) and Rievaulx Abbey (11 miles). Alternatively, the pretty market towns of Easingwold (6 miles), Helmsley (9 miles), and Thirsk (14.5 miles) offer weekly markets, traditional tearooms, good restaurants, and old-world charm.

Wonderful quiet spot with lovely views. Very clean, and lots of thought had gone into everything provided for the stay. Very friendly, helpful owner. The only thing I missed was a dishwasher.
