A welcoming entrance hall leads into the open-plan lounge/kitchen/diner, a calming space with scenic river views inviting lazy brunches, afternoon naps and late-night films with refreshments on ice. The property’s two bijou bedrooms, an en-suite double bedroom and a twin bedroom, enjoy easy access to the patio garden, with a family shower room nearby. Outside, dine alfresco or catch the sun in the comfort of the south-facing patio.

Appledore’s vibrant centre (300 metres) offers a wide range of galleries, shops and dog-friendly pubs and cafes serving the catch of the day. Seasonal ferries take two and four-legged visitors over to Instow (0.5 miles), a pretty village with a dog-friendly beach. Further sandy shores are found at Westward Ho! (2 miles), a popular destination for water sports lovers, while Bideford (3 miles) is an attractive port town whose boats regularly make trips to Lundy Island.
