Spacious, comfortable and full of traditional character, this inviting property is ideal for couples or small families, and welcomes your waggy-tailed companion, too. After a day of going mutts exploring the wild and wonderful Moray Firth, your pup can play in the gorgeous garden or spend the evening stretched out in front of the roaring fire.
This converted 18th-century stable has a welcoming feel from the moment you and your chum step through the door, and underfloor heating throughout the ground floor means you’ll have cosy toes (and paws) all year round. Set down your canine companion’s bowls on the tiled floor of the kitchen, and enjoy your own food in the beautifully light and airy lounge/diner, with its antique table and chairs, comfortable sofa (which converts to a full-size sofa bed) and TV. In winter, throw a log on the open fire or, in summer, open the patio doors and enjoy that indoor/outdoor feeling. Completing the downstairs is a useful shower room, while upstairs – having said goodnight to your faithful friend – you’ll find two super-king-size bedrooms (twins on request), both with TVs, one with an en-suite bathroom and the other boasting an en-suite shower. For a breath of fresh air, take your hound out into the large garden where he can chase a ball while you dine outside or enjoy an al fresco aperitif.
The cottage is located 2.5 miles outside the seaside town of Nairn, where you’ll find three gorgeous beaches that are popular with locals and visitors alike. Mutts will tire themselves out chasing a ball on the long stretches of sand, and there are lots of dog-friendly eateries in town. Head to Culbin Forest for woodland walks, or Brodie Castle, 4.5 miles, for a scenic wander around the estate, famous for daffodils in the spring.
