Escape with your special someone to this lovely cottage sitting at the foot of the Derwent Valley in the village of Matlock Bath. Sleeping two people in one bedroom and welcoming two faithful friends, it’s the ideal romantic retreat for couples who want to discover the beautiful Peak District together with their pups in tow. Spend wonderful days taking your canine companions for walkies along the Cromford Canal towpath, and in the evening, come home to the cottage to snuggle up in front of the glowing gas fire while your pups snooze at your feet.
Take the few steps down from the parking area to the cottage’s entrance. Step inside and you’ll be greeted by an inviting open-plan lounge/dining area with a ceiling featuring beautiful, exposed beams. Take a moment to relax on the sofa before heading to the traditional kitchen to whip up some dinner. Enjoy a romantic dinner for two in the cosy dining area, or step outside onto the raised patio and dine alfresco while your pups enjoy exploring the enclosed garden. After dinner, snuggle by the gas fire in the lounge area while your pups snooze at your feet. At the end of the day, climb the steep stairs to the first floor to find a spacious double bedroom with pretty garden views, and the charming bathroom, offering the choice of a bath or shower before bed.
Unleash your dogs’ playful side at Derwent Gardens (1.5 miles). Let them run free along the fantastic trails and you'll find that tails are sure to wag. Alternatively, head to Lumsdale Valley (3.5 miles) to explore the ruins of its 16th-century Bone Mill with your pups by your side. While you're there, check out the magical waterfall.
