Grab the gang and pack the puppy: it’s time for a holiday! This picturesque, detached stone cottage would be perfect for a family holiday with the grandparents or a mixed group, but either way, you’ll need a sense of adventure and your best canine companion. You can explore the scenery or learn about the region’s rich history, then return to a welcoming property.
As you enter, you’ll be greeted by a spacious hallway, which leads to an open-plan kitchen/diner/lounge. This is a great spot to warm up after a long walk because you can cook in the kitchen area and light a fire in the wood burner. If you’d prefer a quiet spot, try the second lounge, which also has a wood burner, and is perfect if you’d like to curl up with a book while your dog has a snooze. The ground floor is completed by a cloakroom with a WC and a utility room. Head upstairs to find a family bathroom and three bedrooms: a king-size with an en-suite shower room; a double and a flexible room which can either be arranged as a double or a twin. The bedrooms are comfortable, simply decorated and finished with wooden touches. The property is completed by a garden which combines a lawn, patio and seating area, enclosed with a wooden fence.
You’ll be staying in the countryside in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. The nearest village is Allendale Town, 2.5 miles away, where you can pick up essentials. There are lots of gorgeous walks around, including at the dog-friendly Allendale Chimneys (4 miles). Alternatively, you’re 31.5 miles from the stunning Lake District National Park. Finish your holiday by visiting the dog-friendly Housesteads Roman Fort (12.5 miles), one of the 15 castles which sat along Hadrian’s Wall.
