This charming lodge sits in lush farmland and is located halfway between Bristol and Weston-Super-Mare (within 12 miles). The dog-friendly lodge features a spacious open-plan lounge/kitchen/diner, a king-size bedroom and a covered decked overlooking an attractive garden with a picket fence. It is perfect for couples seeking a romantic break in the tranquil Somerset countryside.

The lodge stands at the end of a quiet country lane and has a relaxing ambience thanks to its rustic colour palette and soft furnishings. Its rooms, though small in number, are all naturally lit and tastefully appointed, with plenty of small details catching the eye. The comfortable open-plan lounge/kitchen/diner is a fantastic place to relax ahead of a lazy brunch or during a late film after a romantic dinner. The warm embrace of the king-size bedroom is only a few paw prints away and, like the adjacent shower room, is the perfect place to recharge after a long day. The covered decked area immediately at the front of the lodge overlooks an attractive gravel garden decorated with shrubs and ornaments, a great place for a morning coffee, alfresco meal or sunset cocktail.

The lodge sits halfway between Bristol and Weston-Super-Mare (within 12 miles) and is surrounded by footpaths and trails. Cadbury Hill Local Nature Reserve (2 miles) is great for a wander with the dog, while the spectacular views of Cheddar Gorge (11 miles) are unforgettable. Clevedon (6.5 miles), like Bristol, is awash with dog-friendly shops and pubs and, like Weston-Super-Mare, is a thriving coastal community home to a beach and stunning pier.

The owners were very friendly and welcoming. The cottage is very comfortable and well equipped in a quiet position with lots of marked walks. It was chilly in the evenings but once we got the hang of the log burner we were very cosy, plenty of logs provided.

What a lovely place to stay, so well done and lovely touches from the welcome gifts to the fact it had tea, coffee, cooking oil and condiments etc as well as all the utensils you need. A really welcoming place to stay and we felt very well looked after. Great dog walks right from the door and wonderfully warm with the fire roaring! My partner and I stayed at Red Apple Lodge over the Christmas period and it was the perfect place to unwind, relax and forget about all our worries at home. We cannot fault the cabin at all, warm once the woodburner was lit, plenty of hardwood included. Kitchen small but perfectly functionable, shower strong, water hot! Wifi fast, furniture and bedRead more comfortable. The whole cabin is nicely decorated and a few nice little touches like the welcoming hamper. Dog was very happy by the fire too! Hide

Cottage contained everything you need and hosts were welcoming and helpful. The wine and cider were a nice touch and very welcome. Only downside it is not too far away from the flight path for Bristol airport.

Perfect, secluded location. Owners available if needed. Sun-soaked, good light - and overview of abundant flowered garden. Nice deck/balcony to sit on at sunset. Cosy and with all you need for a pleasant stay: good bed, shower, wifi, milk and basics, safe, secure parking, etc. Dog friendly and close to walks along quiet lanes and beyond.
