Take a big trip to the Lake District with your friends, family and dogs. This property would suit a mixed group of people and their canine companions, and it’s in an incredible location. You’ll be able to visit the seaside, explore ancient ruins and climb mountains, while knowing you’ve got a warm bath and a cosy house when you return.

Enter a large hallway; there’s a WC under the stairs, a lounge to one side and an open-plan kitchen/lounge/diner at the rear. This living space is wonderful, modern and sociable, and there are huge bi-fold glass doors which open to the garden, so you’ll get lots of natural light. The bedrooms are on the first floor. You’ll have a twin, two doubles and a super-king-size bedroom with an en-suite. All of these are comfortable and simply decorated in neutral tones. There’s a family bathroom for quick showers or long soaks, as you prefer. The garden is two-tiered and enclosed by a wooden fence so your dogs can play and sniff around, and if you’d like to join them with a coffee or a glass of wine, there’s rattan furniture.

You’ll be on the outskirts of Cockermouth, a riverside town with shops and dog-friendly pubs for hearty meals and local beers. There are loads of great hikes around, including Watch Hill (which is actually a mountain), 4 miles away; Holme Force Waterfalls, 8.5 miles away; and Bassenthwaite Lake National Nature Reserve (6 miles) which is home to rare birds including ospreys, meadow pipits and grasshopper warblers. Learn about the history and legends with a trip to Workington Hall, 8.5 miles, which welcomes dogs and supposedly has a tunnel used by Mary, Queen of Scots.

  • 4 bedrooms – 1 super-king-size, 2 doubles and 1 twin
  • 2 bathrooms – 1 bathroom with bath, separate shower and WC and 1 en-suite shower room with shower and WC (separate ground-floor WC)
  • Electric double oven and induction hob, built-in microwave, dishwasher, wine cooler, fridge/freezer and washing machine
  • Smart TV in the lounge
  • Amazon echo dot in the kitchen / lounge
  • Private enclosed garden with seating
  • Private parking for 2 cars on the drive
  • Storage for bikes and sports equipment in the garage
  • Shop 400 metres, pub 200 metres
  • Please be aware that the property is located on a new estate and some of some roads are still being completed, there are also some building work still going on but this is not within close proximity of the property.
  • This property will be decorated for Christmas
  • Arrival: 16:30 onwards
  • Departure: before 10:00, unless otherwise stated in your arrival details
  • 3 dogs allowed. Dogs are charged at £20 each per full or part week
  • There is an Accidental Damage Deposit of £350 when booking at this property, however this may be waived for £40. We’ll provide more details about this when booking your holiday.

Cockermouth is not the nicest place but an okay base. Windermere,Buttermere and Coniston are lovely places to visit and if you are feeling energetic scafell pike is a good climb.

Strawberryhow View was a beautifully decorated large property. The kitchen was well equipped making it perfect for self catering. The location is nice for visiting the Northern Lakes and if youre prepared to drive 45 mins Grasmere and Ambleside are also accessible. Wed definitely use this property again if returning to the area.

We had a great stay, the house was lovely and clean and there was lots of room. We all loved it. Although the house is on a development there are still lovely views especially from the bedrooms. Great property large enclosed garden for any dogs, good location around 1 hour away from lake Windermere and 20 minutes to Keswick. The kitchen was slightly cluttered with things that didnt work. The beds were very comfortable. No first aid kit when we needed it.
