Take a big trip to the Lake District with your friends, family and dogs. This property would suit a mixed group of people and their canine companions, and it’s in an incredible location. You’ll be able to visit the seaside, explore ancient ruins and climb mountains, while knowing you’ve got a warm bath and a cosy house when you return.
Enter a large hallway; there’s a WC under the stairs, a lounge to one side and an open-plan kitchen/lounge/diner at the rear. This living space is wonderful, modern and sociable, and there are huge bi-fold glass doors which open to the garden, so you’ll get lots of natural light. The bedrooms are on the first floor. You’ll have a twin, two doubles and a super-king-size bedroom with an en-suite. All of these are comfortable and simply decorated in neutral tones. There’s a family bathroom for quick showers or long soaks, as you prefer. The garden is two-tiered and enclosed by a wooden fence so your dogs can play and sniff around, and if you’d like to join them with a coffee or a glass of wine, there’s rattan furniture.
You’ll be on the outskirts of Cockermouth, a riverside town with shops and dog-friendly pubs for hearty meals and local beers. There are loads of great hikes around, including Watch Hill (which is actually a mountain), 4 miles away; Holme Force Waterfalls, 8.5 miles away; and Bassenthwaite Lake National Nature Reserve (6 miles) which is home to rare birds including ospreys, meadow pipits and grasshopper warblers. Learn about the history and legends with a trip to Workington Hall, 8.5 miles, which welcomes dogs and supposedly has a tunnel used by Mary, Queen of Scots.
