Treat yourself to a retreat at this delightful townhouse sitting on one of Kendal’s atmospheric ancient side streets. Sleeping five people over three bedrooms and welcoming one canine companion, it’s the perfect accommodation option for families or groups of friends who want to explore the Lake District with their pup in tow. Spend long, lazy days boating at Lake Windermere, and in the evening come home to fire up the BBQ in the cottage’s garden and dine alfresco while your pup enjoys the freedom to roam the enclosed space.

Step into this lovely home and make your way to the lounge. Slip onto a sofa and take a moment to make yourself at home while your pup stretches out in front of the wood burner-effect gas fire. When it’s time to eat, head to the stylish kitchen/dining room. Cook up a storm for your loved ones and get everyone together to eat in the tastefully-decorated dining area. Alternatively, step out into the south-facing garden, fire up the BBQ and dine alfresco. After dinner, enjoy a glass of wine on the patio, or stretch out in front of the TV in the lounge. When it’s time for bed, there are two charming bedrooms on the first floor, as well as a spacious attic bedroom on the second floor.

Gead into Bowness (10 miles) and take your pup on board to cruise around the largest lake in England – Lake Windermere - the scenery there is simply stunning. For night time walkies with a difference, head to Kendal Castle (1 mile) to get a great view of the night sky. Kendal is renowned for its clear night skies and the castle sometimes hosts stargazing events.

Lovely cottage in great central location, walking distance to shops, pubs, cafes and local attractions. Living space a little cramped for a family of 5 and a dog (!), but perfect for 4 or less. Parking can be a bit problematic if you need regular access to a car, with the cottage on a steep hill, parking spaces 50-100 yards up the hill and one-way Read moresystems round Kendal, but good to keep you fit or try and ditch the car as much as possible! We had a lovely stay and thought the cottage was really well situated for Kendal. It had a lovely south facing back garden where you could see across into the town below. There was a lovely local green where our dog could run around freely and there were walks locally and a short drive away from Windermere for all that offered too. Would definitelyRead more recommend.
