Enjoy a romantic getaway in this remote area of the stunning Lake District. This picturesque cottage would be ideal for two people and their dog, and it’s surrounded by incredible countryside just waiting for adventurers. So, pack the dog and bone and your walking boots for a relaxing return to nature.
Enter the property to find a hallway with a utility room and WC. If you go down a few steps you’ll be in the lounge, a grand room with inviting upholstery, wooden finishes and a wood burner for cosy evenings. Return to the hallway and go up a few steps to reach the kitchen/diner, which is well-equipped and has gorgeous views from the window by the table. Continue up a full flight of stairs to the bathroom and the king-size bedroom. It’s comfortable and decorated with beautiful art to match the incredible scenery. This property has two gardens: a private front garden with a stream running through, enclosed by wooden fences and hedges, and there’s an enclosed gravelled garden at the rear.
There are so many places to hike around the Lake District, you’ll be spoilt for choice. Start with a 1.5-mile trip (each way) to Aira Force Waterfall. If you’d like to paddle, or your dog fancies a swim, try Friars Crag (12.5 miles), a valley with a stunning lake. Soak up some history with a visit to the 5,000-year-old Castlerigg Stone Circle (10.5 miles) or Lowther Castle and Gardens (11 miles), where dogs are welcome everywhere aside from the children’s playground. The castle itself is around 1,000 years old, the gardens are stunning and there’s a cafe which makes delicious cakes. For supplies, souvenirs and dog-friendly pubs, take a trip to Keswick, 12 miles.
