This delightful stone cottage in the pretty village of Satterthwaite is the perfect romantic retreat for a couple, together with a four-legged friend. The single-storey property is full of charm and character, with a lovely garden and glorious Lakeland views. Scenic, pet-friendly walks are on the doorstep, as well as nearby Grizedale Forest (2 miles), while Lake Windermere and Coniston Water are both within easy reach.
Beautifully converted from former stables, the cottage has original ceiling beams in the bright living room and is furnished with a pretty Chesterfield and wing chair in jewel-like colours. Vintage oak furniture and a cosy wood burner complete the welcoming picture. Glass doors lead into the spacious, streamlined kitchen and light-filled dining area, which opens onto a patio and garden. The sumptuous, king-sized bedroom has a lovely view from the window and there is a large, adjoining shower room. Outside is an extensive, enclosed garden with a stream – perfect for doggy fun – and patio furniture, from where you can enjoy the glorious surroundings.
Grizedale Forest is sure to delight your pet, with exciting new smells to discover on a range of signposted walks that range from 1 to 7 miles. There are picnic areas, a cafe and a Go-Ape climbing centre for the adventurous. Enjoy the scenery from boat trips on Lake Windermere (8.5 miles) or Coniston Water (9 miles). Pets on leads are welcome aboard, and Coniston Boating Centre offers a variety of water sports, from windsurfing to paddle boarding. Visit picture-postcard Hawkshead (4 miles), where William Wordsworth went to school, and stroll down the village’s cobbled streets past whitewashed cottages. If dining out appeals after the day’s adventures, the traditional village pub in Satterthwaite is dog-friendly, has a beer garden and serves hearty food.
