Venture out and about with a trip to the Howardian Hills AONB (5 miles) for endless hours of picturesque pathways and perfect picnic spots.

All on one level, this property benefits from a gorgeous open-plan living room/kitchen/diner, characterised by high vaulted ceilings and tasteful country-style furnishings throughout. Sink into one of the two sofas and let your canine curl up by the wood burner for a quiet evening watching films and reading books in the living space to truly relax. The wow-factor window in the kitchen fills the room with natural light which bounces off the white cabinets and creates a bright and inviting ambience in which you can cook and eat. There are two bedrooms in the cottage, one of which is a king-size room which enjoys a neutral colour palette and a set of double doors leading directly out onto the south-facing outdoor area. This room also benefits from an en-suite shower room. Completing the sleeping arrangements is a twin which reflects the decor of the rest of the property for a calming space in which to sleep. The family bathroom has a spacious double shower which is ideal for waking you up each morning. Outside, the suntrap garden and private paddock ensure there’s plenty of space to make the most of good weather, be it dining alfresco or playing in the field.

Search out the best local produce in the market town of Helmsley (10 miles), or head to the Walled Gardens which welcome dogs in all areas to soak up the natural beauty of the curated plant collections. Why not take a trip into the city of York to learn about the local history, visit the Minster and stop off at a paw-friendly tea room to refuel? A very comfortable, well equipped cottage. Perfect for the two of us and our little dog. Warm and cosy and despite the awful weather ( national!) we had an excellent time. Well located and within easy reach of all the varied attractions of this area.

Lovely cottage!! Well equipped. Closer to the road than expected. The location was excellent for local attractions. Felt like a home from home!!

Barn Owl Cottage is a well presented property. Very well equipped, clean and some very good welcoming touches . It has been well thought out as to what makes the Cottage stand out above others that weve stayed in As dog owners the paddock opposite the property was very useful. Barn Owl Cottage was very warm and comfortable and in a lovely location. The walk in shower was a real plus and the oven and dishwasher were very simple to operate(not always the case on our stays elsewhere) Sadly because of the weather we could only use the patio area once but it was well equipped with the two seating areas and the paving made it Read morevery safe underfoot. Very comfortable and beautifully presented to a high standard, good location within easy driving distance to a number of places that are well worth a visit. The enclosed patio was perfect for us and our dog.
