A delightful former schoolhouse close to the beautiful Lake District, this property is perfect for a large gathering of family or friends who want to share a relaxing break with their pets. The detached property sleeps 16 guests across seven bedrooms and four bathrooms, with a welcome for up to three tail-waggers. There is a large games room and a lovely, enclosed garden, ideal for children and canines. The fells and rivers of the Lake District National Park are within 7 miles, with views across the Solway Firth to the unspoiled coast of Scotland.

This welcoming holiday home has stylish interiors that enhance character features such as fine period fireplaces. The tranquil lounge offers comfortable sofas and dual views out towards the coast and fields. Exposed stone walls are a feature of the dining room, next to the country kitchen, while the games room houses a pool table and piano. Completing the ground floor, there’s a super king-size bedroom, a shower room and a cosy snug with a wood burner. Upstairs are six appealing bedrooms and the remaining bathrooms. Outside, the large garden features a lawn, mature trees and outdoor seating on the patio, and a BBQ.

Enjoy exploring the quieter Northern Fells within 15 miles, and country towns such as pretty Cockermouth (13 miles), birthplace of the poet William Wordsworth. Pups must remain in the courtyard outside his childhood home, Wordsworth House and Garden, but the National Trust location offers doggy treats and water bowls. Cockermouth has a great range of independent shops, eateries and dog-friendly pubs. Walk with pets along the western shoreline of beautiful Bassenthwaite Lake (12 miles), or go for a wild swim, then warm up with a dram at The Lakes Distillery (11 miles).

A lovely spacious house with plenty of outside space too. Very well equipped for a large number of people and very comfortable beds. However, while the lounge was comfortable there wasn't sufficient seats for everyone to be together. Luckily we had children with us so they were happy not to sit in there.

Great holiday home for groups and large families. Plenty of living spaces to get together. We particularly liked the dining space and having a piano in the games room was a bonus. It was winter so we didnt manage to take advantage of the outdoor space other than the hottub which was lovely. We recommend.

House was stunning, facilities were amazing, communication was great, location was beautiful. This house had everything we needed for 16 (8 adults and 8 children) to spend a fantastic weekend together (for the first time in nearly 10 years). It was beautifully decorated for Christmas, and we really appreciated the high quality kitchen equipment (whRead moreich is usually lacking in many holiday cottages). Thank you for providing such a wonderful place for others to enjoy. Hide
