Couples, friends or families who own multiple hounds need look no further than this pretty cottage, which welcomes six humans and five faithful friends to an out-of-the-way setting on an organic farm. Close to Llanllwni in Mid Wales, it has a fire pit for star gazing in summer and a wood burner for winter evenings, plus an enclosed dog play area, too.
Drive up the 1.5 mile farm track (not suitable for low-wheel-based vehicles) to feel you’re really escaping the everyday. Enter via the conservatory, where you can linger at the bench seat or breakfast table, and admire the panoramic views. The galley kitchen is well equipped for hassle-free cooking, and has a breakfast bar for relaxing with the newspaper over a cuppa. For more formal meals, gather around the table in the lounge/diner, and afterwards snuggle on the corner sofa in front of the wood burner and Smart TV. Also on the ground floor are a utility room and a family shower room, while all three bedrooms are upstairs: a double with an en-suite shower room, another double and a twin. Outside the conservatory you’ll find a seating area with a fire pit, perfect for marshmallow-toasting under the stars, and the all-important dog play space. You may also explore the 250 acres of farmland with private woodland.
The cottage is located on top of Llanllwni mountain. Head to Llanllwni village, 4 miles, for a shop and pub, and to the Brechfa Forest, 8 miles, for a variety of walking trails. Enjoy the rural solitude of the area and reconnect with nature, but if you need a spot of retail therapy and a wander round an interesting and beautiful town, Lampeter is just 9 miles and Llandeilo 17.5 miles. The beaches and coves of Cardigan Bay are 22 miles away.
