Pick up the dog and bone and take a trip to Ludlow. This beautiful Shropshire town has plenty of fascinating places to explore and makes a great base for a small family or a group of friends and their canine companion.
Upon your arrival, enter to find a lounge with a wood burner. Grab a cup of tea, start the fire and let the holiday begin with a cosy, comforting feeling. Next door is a kitchen/diner with a classic wooden table for communal meals. The kitchen is well-equipped and a nice place to rustle up a delicious meal. Head upstairs to find two bedrooms and a family shower room. There’s a double and a single, both nicely decorated and perfect for a good night’s sleep. The entire cottage is relaxing and feels like a lovely sanctuary. If the weather is fine, visit the front garden and its sunny patio with a dining table and a BBQ.
Ludlow has lots of interesting places to visit. The market is 1.5 miles away and you’ll find plenty of local foods and independent crafts. It’s overshadowed by the castle, which is dog friendly and has an interesting history. Pick a morning to wander around both and really soak up the community feeling. On the other side of the castle is the river, and when you cross this, you’ll be in the Whitcliffe Common Nature Reserve (just over 1.5 miles from the cottage). This is a great place to walk dogs and admire the view. Finally, take a trip to the UNESCO Heritage Site of Ironbridge, 26 miles away, credited as the birthplace of the Industrial Revolution, which is still home to the eponymous iron bridge.
