A dog-friendly property within a 0.5-mile stroll of the beach in the village of Seascale, this holiday home is ideal for families or friends who want their pets to share a lovely holiday exploring the beautiful Lake District. The welcoming terraced cottage sleeps four guests and two pups (though please note they must be kept downstairs). Seascale has a long seafront promenade, perfect for doggy walks, and your canine companions can race free along the sandy beach. The western fells and mountains are nearby, with the scenic valleys of Wasdale and Eskdale just 10 miles distant.
The bright, contemporary interior offers comfort and style, with pale wooden flooring and doors throughout the ground floor. Snuggle into cosy leather seating in the lounge, where a door leads to the bright and spacious kitchen, housing a separate dining area. Upstairs, there’s a family bathroom and two inviting bedrooms: a king-size with sea views and a pretty twin. Outside is a private, enclosed garden, perfect for pets to stretch their legs, with patio furniture and distant sea views.
Seascale’s shops, pubs and restaurants are within easy reach, and there is a children’s playground on the seafront, against a backdrop of far-off mountains. Enjoy a 7-mile journey through glorious scenery, drawn by a picture-book steam engine on the Ravenglass and Eskdale narrow gauge railway (6 miles). Dogs are welcome on board, and you can stop off en route to enjoy a cream tea at Dalegarth Cafe. There’s a wealth of walks and fascinating smells to investigate for pets on leads in 70 acres of woodland at historic Muncaster Castle (8 miles), with water bowls at strategic points. If scaling the heights of Scafell Pike, England’s highest mountain, is not for you, the valleys of Wasdale and Eskdale have a wealth of ancient packhorse trails to explore.
