Delight in a dog-friendly stay at this enticing Grade II-listed cottage in Swanage. Sleeping just two guests, the two-bedroom bolthole is perfect for a romantic break in Dorset. Offering characterful accommodation, the stone retreat is in an ideal location for hounds and humans who are eager to explore the Isle of Purbeck or to strike out along the South West Coast Path. It is within reach of scenic, dog-friendly beaches and other picturesque Dorset locations.

Step inside to find yourselves in a gorgeous lounge/diner which still reveals original stone and timberwork. Rest weary paws and feet in here after your long walks and gather your thoughts in front of the Smart TV, with your contented canine up at your feet. Take two steps up to enter the kitchen, via a narrow doorway, so you can serve doggy dinners and make tasty meals for you and your partner or friend, with the stable door open on summer days. Then dine back through in the main reception room. The family bathroom can be found at the ground-floor level too. Climb the steep, uneven, cottage-style stairs up to the first floor, where a single bedroom is located. Another steep, narrow, cottage-style staircase leads up to the top floor, where there is a king-size bedroom with charming, sloping ceilings. Please be aware that due to the age of this cottage, there is some restricted head-height in places. Have your first cup of tea of the day out in the courtyard, which is open to the adjacent cottage, before taking your paw-some pal off for a long coastal or countryside hike.

Make sandwiches, pocket some dog treats and venture 3.5 miles to magnificent Studland Bay. Here, pups are welcome on the National Trust land, which offers 4 miles of walking routes, at any time of year.

The cottage is very cosy and handy location to the centre of Swanage with a short walk to the seafront and shops. However parking was impossible, we managed to park the second evening out the front of the cottage to then have a neighbour shout at us and become very agressive that we had parked in her spot, despite being in front of the cottage and Read morebeing no designated spaces. Anyone over 5ft 6 would struggle with the low beam and be aware of the very steep stairs to the top floor. Hide

This cottage has very very uneven staircase to the first floor, difficult get up and down, can be slippery going down. A very steep staircase to the top floor.Have to watch the head height between the kitchen and living area. I forgot and bang my head, it hurt for a few days. The hob is by the doorway which can still be hot after using, needs a covRead moreer. My husband and I felt there were too many dangerous areas, we left our holiday early. Hide
