This wonderful property, situated less than 200 metres from the shore of Bassenthwaite Lake, is the ideal romantic bolthole for two – and your canine companion, of course! Sleeping you both in a tranquil double bedroom on an amazing mezzanine level, this little cottage is the perfect hideaway to return to after a long day out exploring this beautiful part of the Lake District. Go for walkies up and around Skiddaw (7.5 miles) to experience spectacular unrestricted views from its south side.
The cottage, which lies in the quiet hamlet of Dubwath, is spacious and comfortable and is laid out in an open-plan style. The kitchen area is fresh and bright with everything you need to cook up tasty meals, while comfortable sofas and peaceful neutral tones in the living area beckon you to snuggle up in front of the TV, the pup laying by your feet. Spend sunny afternoons sizzling up the BBQ in the enclosed garden, or simply sit on the bench with a good book while the dog enjoys sniffing around.
Go for leisurely walks around the grounds and lake of Mirehouse (5.5 miles) where you’ll find meadows, woodland and a bee garden. Whinlatter Forest (8 miles) is also great for walks and offers unrivalled views across Bassenthwaite Lake, Derwentwater and Keswick. Keswick (8 miles) is a brilliant tourist spot with plenty of dog-friendly cafes and pubs; take the Keswick to Threlkeld Railway Trail which is 6 miles out and back on Victorian railway bridges over the River Greta. Take the pup on a lake cruise from Keswick Launch where you can hop on and off or stay on for a 50-minute cruise of Derwentwater.
