Get everyone together for an unforgettable getaway to this beautiful semi-detached cottage sitting just a few yards away from the Monmouthshire and Brecon Canal in the picturesque village of Gilwern. Sleeping five people across three bedrooms and welcoming one canine companion, this tranquil cottage is the perfect base for a family or group of friends who want to experience mountain adventures with their loyal dog by their side. Take your pup for walkies along the countless trails in the iconic Seven Hills of Abergavenny, and in the evening, check out the cosy, dog-friendly pubs in the village of Gilwern.

Step inside this smart cottage and make yourself at home in the warm and welcoming open-plan living and dining area. Whip up some dinner in the chic, contemporary-style kitchen and then get everyone together to eat in the spacious dining area. Alternatively, head out to the garden for a sociable al fresco dining experience while your pup plays in the enclosed space. After dinner, challenge your loved ones to some board games in the living area while your pups stretch out in front of the wood burner. At the end of the day, there are three lovely bedrooms to choose from upstairs.

Wine-lovers will be happy to hear that their pup can join them in the tasting tent at the wonderful Sugar Loaf Vineyard (4.5 miles). Alternatively, take your pup for a stroll through the lovely grounds at Tredegar House (25 miles). You can even treat your canine companion to a dog-friendly ice cream in the tearoom there. Or head to the Medieval ruins of Tintern Abbey (26 miles) for the day. This beautiful architectural gem was founded by Cistercian monks back in 1131 and your pup is welcome in all parts of the grounds.

This cottage is very cosy and tastefully decorated. There was sufficient space for our party of 2 adults and 3 kids. Beds very comfy, shower worked well. Nice TV, and separate dining area was useful for meals and board games. If you're tall, watch your head in some of the doorways! What a privilege to stay at School Lane. Really beautifully decorated and everything is thought of we could have wanted. The hosts made sure we had everything we needed and provided such a thoughtful welcome basket.
