Give your dog the adventure of a lifetime when staying in this rural Cumbrian cottage, within easy reach of the scenic coastline and the mighty Lake District National Park. Despite being a dog-friendly cottage, this place by no means skrimps on stylish interiors and exceptionally comfortable furnishings, all-in-all creating a wonderful base for savouring the end of every action-packed day. The canine-compatible cottage offers two bedrooms and plenty of shared spaces both indoors and out, merrily accommodating a group of four guests and two dogs overall.

Tails are sure to wag as you enter this delectable holiday home, heading in via the conservatory and stepping into the kitchen/diner. With a handy utility room and laundry facilities just off, this is a great first destination for giving wet fur and muddy paws a wipe-down before settling into the rest of the place. There’s also a wood burner in here, so feel free to position your dogs' beds in here to savour the cosy atmosphere. Next door sits a lounge space with soft seating, a Smart TV and a wood burner effect gas fire, another exceptionally inviting spot for your pups to curl up at night. Leave sleeping dogs to lie downstairs as you venture up to bed, finding two king-size bedrooms and a bathroom on the first floor. Finally, ample outdoor space next to the property makes this holiday home a truly pup-friendly place.

Pack a tennis ball and head to Maryport (3 miles), your nearest town and a place to embark on a coastal walk in the Solway Coast AONB. Stretching up to the sand dunes of Mawbray Banks (8.5 miles) and beyond, there are ample seascapes to take in as you walk your dog around this beautiful area. For further walks and hikes inland, take a trip to Cockermouth (4.5 miles) and embark on a northern Lake District adventure.

What a beautiful hidden gem. The cottage is beautifully presented, and the grounds are a stunning oasis, with two lovely patios to enjoy. Steve is the perfect host, there if you need him but doesn't infringe on your privacy. I would highly recommend this property for a relaxing break. The Old Mill pub is excellent, less than a five minute walk.

Had an excellent stay at Swallows Nest. The bread, jams and wine were most welcome. Great to have the garden to run the dogs first thing in the morning and close to the beach at Allonby Bay. Steve was really helpful with local recommendations and we had a couple of very nice meals at the Old Mill Inn. Other highlights included paddling BassenthwaitRead moree Lake, the Lake Station and Pheasant Inn, Keswick and the walk around Derwentwater. Hide
