This charming cottage, situated at the foot of Helvellyn less than 100 metres from a footpath, is perfect for couples and small families that would never dream of leaving their faithful friends behind. Sleeping four across two peaceful bedrooms and with space for up to two dogs to stretch out, this property is an opportunity to get out and explore the stunning Lake District National Park on foot or by water. Climb aboard an Ullswater Steamer (1 mile) and take a cruise along the lake, stopping off at Aira Force Waterfall (3.5 miles direct) for walkies.
The property, which sits on the end of a row of terraces, has fantastic views from the garden. Sit here with your morning coffee and take in the countryside air. Inside, a cosy and welcoming space awaits; snuggle up on the sofa in the lounge with your pups by your feet, comforted by the warmth of the wood burner. A gorgeous open-tread staircase leads you upstairs to the bedrooms, where tranquil blue tones and thoughtful decorations will help you get a great night’s sleep to prepare you for tomorrow’s adventures.
Head off to Lowther Castle and Gardens (13.5 miles) where dogs can join you in the grounds – though they’ll have to wait patiently outside if the kids use the adventure playground! A trip into Keswick (16.5 miles) will never disappoint, with the Derwent Pencil Museum, Castlerigg Stone Circle and Derwentwater all nearby. The 6-mile round-trip Keswick to Threlkeld Railway Trail is a perfect family walking route as it’s mostly flat and takes you over the River Greta on some of the original Victorian railway bridges. And if you’re up for serious hiking, paths leading to Scafell Pike, Great Gable and Great End start from Seathwaite (25.5 miles) where you can leave the car.
