A charming and contemporary retreat situated on the cusp of the pretty village of Appledore, ideal for a family of four and a canine companion, as no holiday is complete without your dog. The perfect location for adventurers who love sniffing out adventures on sandy shores or strolling along coastal paths.

This lovely cottage is light and bright, with stylish décor and furnishings. Store your dog leads, coats and shoes in the hallway’s storage, before heading through to the practical kitchen which has everything you need to cook up a storm for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Get cosy in the lounge and watch a film while the dog takes a well-deserved rest snoozing by your feet. When you are ready for some shuteye, alight to the first floor and find two bedrooms, a double and a twin room, as well as a family bathroom. Take the patio doors from the lounge and find a wonderful, enclosed garden. The dog can safely explore while you enjoy dining alfresco on the patio furniture.

The historic fishing village of Appledore (0.5 miles) is set on the banks of the estuaries of the River Torridge and River Taw and is lined with chocolate-box, colourful houses. It is home to plenty of independent shops, restaurants and dog-friendly pubs to while away the day and has an outdoor activity centre that organises fabulous kayaking trips along the river. Alternatively, take the foot ferry across the river to Instow, where dogs can run wild and free on the beach here all year-round. You can also enjoy walks along the South West Coast Path that takes in some superb views along the rugged shoreline.

A wonderful place to stay. The cottage was super clean and had everything you need. The location was perfect to explore locally on foot especially with our dog as there were plenty of walks to do and other local attractions are within easy reach by car. We will definitely return.

A well equipped and comfortable house. Well located for a walk into Appledore and access to coastal paths. The house is just on the edge of Appledore but the advantage of this is that you can park your car(s) adjacent to the property: a definite bonus in this area. You will want for nothing. Lovely week in this clean, cozy and comfortable house. Tastefully decorated and superbly equipped including all staples (bread, milk, tea. coffee , cereals, eggs, marmalade etc.). Very convenient for dog walking (easy walk to Westward Ho! beach) and cycling (Tarka trail). Parking a bonus with garage for secure storage of Read morecycles etc.).
