For a dreamy holiday deep in the Cotswolds, this detached country house offers a luxurious getaway for family, friends and up to two dogs. It’s located within its own private gardens in a sweet hamlet 0.5 miles from the River Severn, with gorgeous scenery all around. Take your pets on long, ambling walks through the spectacular Forest of Dean then, once home, relax into long evenings spent kicking back in the huge garden and indulgent hot tub. It’s got space for up to eight human guests over four bedrooms, with plenty of chill-out areas, too, including a fully-equipped games room, a conservatory and a covered terrace outside.
You’ll access this delightfully restored cottage at the rear and step into a huge open-plan living area with exposed wooden beams and French doors leading outside. In the beautifully finished lounge, you can lose yourself in a film on the Smart TV while tired pets warm their fur by the cosy wood burner. The farmhouse-style kitchen is ideal for cooking up huge group meals to be savoured at the large wooden table. An extra corner sofa and round dining table are located in the conservatory, which really comes into its own on a sunny day. Outside there’s mature fruit orchard and wild meadow where dogs and children can run free, plus a games room with table tennis and table football – that’ll keep them busy for a while!
Dog-friendly activities nearby abound – you could while away an afternoon at the Beechenhurst Sculpture Trail (9 miles) or head to the spectacular Symonds Yat for rock climbing, kayaking and stand-up paddle boarding. For an urban day out, the city of Gloucester – whose Norman cathedral features in the Harry Potter films – is a 15.5-mile drive away.
